January’s Photo: In the photo Aaron is looking back on the season’s harvest - one of the lucky crops that made it through this year’s record-breaking drought.

About the photo: On October 20, 2011, Caterina Conti and I visited members of the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative (TOCMC) for their annual Farm Field Day in Lubbock, Texas. TOCMC puts together a full-day field trip for businesses, organizations and individuals to explore and understand the organic farming process. For me, spending one-on-one time with the growers of our AnvilOrganic t-shirts put everything in a different perspective, especially since this was my first experience visiting an organic farm.
This photograph is of Aaron Vogler, son of Jerry and Darlene who are original TOCMC farmers. In college Aaron studied business with hopes to get into banking. But when he graduated, there weren’t any banking jobs so he joined his parents on the farm to help out with the harvest for the year. He’s never turned back - now going on seven years farming organic.
